Why? Why are these words spoken?
When? When did this saying originate?

1.     Bless you is used to wish a person blessings in various situations,[1][2] especially as a response to a sneeze, and also, when parting or writing a valediction.
2.     This saying originated in AD 59
3.     This saying originated because Pope Gregory I said that anyone sneezing should be blessed immediately.
4.     This saying originated in Rome when there was an outbreak of the bubonic plaque.
